It replaces the original part so that counterweights can be used with the gimbal to balance front-weighted lens-camera configurations. The plate has rows of 1\/4\"-20 threaded holes that accept either Counterweight 2284 (100g) or 2285(200g) additional weights (sold separately). The original lens support that comes with the gimbals can be attached to the front.
