Blackmagic Design URSA Mini 4K - EF mount, affordable movie camera

Now in a smaller, more manageable package, the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini 4K - EF mount cinema camera lets you capture cinematic views with its Super-35mm 4k sensor with global shutter and 12 apertures of dynamic range. The ergonomically balanced body design is suitable for many types of cinematography. The EF bayonet is compatible with a brutal array of lenses, so you can choose the look of your film to your liking. The rosette mount on the side of the camera accepts a side handle to control the Start/Stop function via the LANC interface.

For a cinematic result with a capital K, the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini 4K records in CinemaDNG format to CFast 2.0 memory cards at 60 fps. The raw file provides the widest possible dynamic scale, and tonal range. This gives you maximum control in post-production. On the other hand, sometimes bulky files are not always the best solution, so with this in mind, in addition to RAW, the 4K Ursa Mini will also record 3:1 compressed footage if required, preserving post-production usability.

The recording specs of the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini 4K camera are quite pleasing. UHD 4K (3840×2160) and 1080p video in the easily editable Prores codec in various formats 444 and 422 chroma subsampling scale, depending on what you need for your workflow. For high-end UHD footage, ProRes 444 XQ 312.5 MB/s and then downsampling to 1080p ProRes 422 Proxy at a relatively low 5.6 MB/s data rate. Since the camera eats as many as two CFast cards, you can record for long periods of time as the camera automatically switches cards when the first one fills up.

The Ursa Mini is powered by the traditional video industry standard V-mount or Gold mount batteries if you buy a separate mounting plate, but you can also power it with a 4-pin XLR connector. Once the unit is powered, you can feed power out of the second XLR socket.
