Its focal length equivalent in small format (aka full-frame) is around 18mm. Its aperture equivalent is again f/3.16. Its 15 elements in 12 groups hold a pair of aspherical elements, one Super ED and three ED elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and colour bleed. The Nano-Gi coating is the best in the industry at controlling reflections. Colour accuracy and brightness are on tap. The lens is protected from weathering elements.

The lens has a manual aperture corrector which gives a very tangible sense of aperture adjustment.

A nine-leaf dimmer helps to produce a soft bokeh.

The built-in linear focus mechanism makes focusing fast and the lens does not change length when focusing. Optical performance is good throughout the focus range.

The brass bayonet is durable and rigid and will hold its fixing tolerances for a long time.
