The FUJIFILM XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR II is a second generation standard zoom lens designed for APS-C format FUJIFILM X-Mount mirrorless cameras. It offers a wide-angle and portrait angle of view equivalent to 24-84mm. Known for its bright f/2.8 continuous maximum aperture, this lens is capable of operating in challenging lighting conditions and low depth of field. Now it offers improved resolution for FUJIFILM's latest 40MP sensors, all with a significant reduction in size and weight.

Optical design

Its optical design includes aspherical elements, ultra-low dispersion elements and a super ultra-low dispersion element, all of which help to reduce distortion and chromatic aberration, improving sharpness and colour accuracy throughout the zoom range. The front element of the lens also features a fluorine coating that repels water, oil and fingerprints. Three ultra-low dispersion elements and a Super ED element are used to greatly reduce chromatic aberration and chromatic aberrations, producing high clarity and colour accuracy throughout the zoom range. Four aspherical elements control distortion and spherical aberrations, helping to improve sharpness and achieve more accurate rendering.

Silent autofocus

The linear motor autofocus system delivers smooth, virtually silent performance that is now faster and more accurate. This is particularly useful for video and working in noise-sensitive environments. Focus jitter and subject search have also been minimised to improve clarity in important shots. A click-free aperture ring allows quiet and precise control of the lens during video recording. A rounded 11-blade dimmer produces a smoother, rounder bokeh that adds a pleasing blur to selective focus and shallow depth-of-field techniques.

Weatherproof design

The lens body incorporates extensive weather protection to guard against dust and moisture, allowing worry-free use in bad weather and even at -10°C below zero.
