Yep, it's no small thing (literally), the Fujino XF 50mm f/1 glass is like a page from a Sigma lens design book. Big is beautiful I guess. But joking aside, high aperture is useful for low light work and, the aperture, especially with the telephoto focal length, tends to make the depth of field quite narrow.

Luminosity is not the only thing worth mentioning about this gem, the lens is also very sophisticated in its optical formula, with aspherical and ED elements that nicely correct for all kinds of distortion. The Super EBC coating keeps flare at bay and flare is (dare I say it) absent. Contrast and colour are therefore spot on.

All this optical goodness is nice, but if it wasn't accompanied by the ultimate in precision and speed with the DC autofocus motor and the rigid physical construction, there would be much weeping and gnashing of teeth. The fixed focal length lens is designed for the Fujifilm X bayonet.

Cinema compatibility on this lens is 76mm.

Aperture dimming is done with nine rounded dimmer dials, making the bokeh, or background softening, quite smooth.

Weather protection has also been included in this professional glass and is sealed in 11 different places to prevent moisture and dust from entering the machine. Temperature resistance is promised down to -10 degrees Celsius.
