24.5MP FX sensor & EXPEED 7 image processor

The combination of a full-size, FX-format 24.5MP BSI CMOS sensor and EXPEED 7 image processor offers a versatile blend of enhanced sensitivity, nuanced image quality, fast, AI-powered autofocus and high-speed continuous shooting at up to 30 frames per second. At its original settings, the sensitivity range of ISO 100-64000 allows you to work in a wide range of lighting conditions, and can be extended up to ISO 50-204800 for extreme lighting conditions. The combination of resolution and sensor size also contributes to clean image quality and smooth colour transitions with reduced noise throughout the sensitivity range.

Reliable autofocus

Using inherited algorithms and deep learning technology from the Z9, including sophisticated target detection for nine different targets, the Z5 II can detect a variety of different types of targets, from people to animals to airplanes to bicycles. The popular bird detection mode is also included. In Auto-Area AF mode, these targets are automatically identified, focused and tracked to ensure sharp focus as the subject moves across the frame.

UHD 4K video recording

Capable of recording more than just still images, the Z5 II has also improved its video recording capabilities, now supporting UHD 4K video recording up to 60 fps and Full HD recording up to 120 fps, as well as recording limits of up to two hours, a video self-timer feature, built-in electronic vibration reduction and the ability to record movie files to the camera's memory card or an optional external recorder via HDMI output. The camera also has a timeline recording option that can produce a ready-to-use UHD 4K video file directly from the camera.

Sensori-Shift Vibration Reduction

The body features a 5-axis sensor-shift Vibration Reduction (VR) mechanism that compensates for up to five stops of stabilisation, regardless of the lens used. With compatible lenses, up to 7.5 stops of stabilisation are possible. Video shooting also benefits from electronic VR, which aids steady shooting from the handheld.

Colour management

Nikon has added a Picture Control button to the Z5 II to make its 31 built-in presets available even in Auto mode. Colour settings can now be displayed on the rear LCD screen, so you can visualise colour changes as you shoot. Creator Recipes created by other Nikon photographers are available via the Nikon Imaging Cloud and can be downloaded and integrated alongside presets.

Frame design and connectivity

• The large 3.2" 2.1m-dot LCD screen doubles the brightness for clear and vivid image reproduction and live view shooting. Vari-angle touchscreen design provides more intuitive operation, navigation and control of settings.
• An ultra-bright, 3.69m-point electronic viewfinder is included for comfortable eye-level viewing.
• The two SD memory card slots both support the UHS-II protocol for fast and efficient photo and video file storage.
• The headset jack also serves as the terminal for Nikon's optional MC-DC3 Remote Release Cord, while the USB-C port provides both camera charging and USB power delivery. A micro-HDMI port allows external recording and live-view.
• Built-in SnapBridge connectivity allows seamless transfer of low-resolution footage and remote shooting capabilities. BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and Wi-Fi allow communication between the camera and the smart device, while a mobile device can remotely trigger the shutter and display a live view of the camera, allowing remote working.
• The included EN-EL15c rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides around 380 shots per charge, and the camera supports charging via USB, even when the camera is in use.

The NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4 - 6.3 VR is a one-lens solution for every situation. 8.3x zoom range and even surprisingly good draw for a general purpose lens make this a desirable Z-series. No expense has been spared in the optical design with a number of special elements, including ARNEA and Nano coatings, producing a sharp and natural image with good contrast. The VR viewfinder makes hand-held shooting up to 5 apertures easier. A two-stage motor provides fast autofocus (with manual override) for both stills and video.

The body has a programmable control ring, in the style of the z-series, which allows you to save various camera and exposure settings.
