Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 is the 5th camera in Panasonic's revolutionary video/still hybrid range. Its 20 megapixel m43 sensor and strong video-centric features make it an indie photographer's dream, and there are treats for photographers too.

New features include an image stabilizer in the body, and unlimited 4K video with unlimited recording time.

With upcoming firmware updates, the GH5 will achieve 4K 4:2:2 10-bit recording at 400mbps, and 1080/60p 4:2:2 10-bit recording at 200mbps. Both will feature All-Intra packaging. The update will also add anamorphic 4K recording.

Ultra-fast motion detection and focus Panasonic's innovative DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology is constantly evolving, and it just got better. DFD allows the LUMIX GH5 to calculate lens movement by comparing depth of field values in two images incredibly quickly. By combining AF data transfer with a maximum shutter speed of 480 frames per second, the LUMIX GH5 achieves ultra-fast autofocus of up to 0.05 seconds* and 9 frames per second continuous shooting with AFC (*12 frames per second continuous shooting with AFS). 4K 60p video

The most striking feature of the GH5 is the ability to shoot 4K video in 59.94p and 44/50p modes. The material is supersampled across the entire sensor, which means that 5.1K video is reduced to 4K resulting in a sharper image. There is no time limit on the length of the video.

Advanced DFD

The GH5 improves on Panasonic's previously popular Depth from Defocus technology, which uses depth of field analysis of two images to improve focusing speed. The result is faster and more accurate autofocus.

Processing style sheets

The Panasonic GH5 is by no means just a video camera, but the increased processing power also brings improvements on the stills side. Improved image resolution and sharpness are achieved thanks to technological leaps. Noise handling has also been improved.
