Panasonic Lumix GH6 - The swan song of the MFT video camera

Panasonic's new Lumix GH6 is a redesigned version of Panasonic's popular GH5 and GH5S on steroids. The design has been specifically focused on video shooting and streaming. The GH6 is a pioneer of MFT or m43 or micro four thirds bodies that challenges its ”full” cell competitors.

The GH6 is a great tool for professional video and media production. The camera features an all-new processor, which allows it to record 4:2:2 Apple ProRess 4.7K 30p, or FullHD 300p video and 100mp handheld stills. The GH6 is equipped with a brutal 13+ aperture dynamic range, has an image stabilisation of a whopping 7.5 apertures and features a VariCam V-log profile. The autofocus responds faster to changing subjects and supports new target recognition.

The Panasonic GH6 is also a great tool for live streaming, which you can do wirelessly from your computer or phone using the Lumix Sync app, directly to YouTube, Twitch or Facebook, for example.

High resolution 25 megapixel sensor. And if the resolution doesn't seem high enough, you can take a 100 megapixel composite image manually. However, the main function of resolution in this camera is to enable 5.7K video. The completely redesigned internals improve not only resolution but also dynamics, even though the pixel size has been slightly reduced. If you have a Type B CFExpress card, you can store 5.7K Apple ProRes 422 HQ footage internally, for a whopping 10-bit 4K120p footage for SD card. There is no limit to the recording time, and it is not limited by heat.

The camera has no low-pass filter which makes the image really sharp.

The speed of the sensor is unbelievable and it allows 75 frames per second for stills or 300 fps for slow motion. Due to the Venus Engine's sensor speed, the rolling shutter effect is virtually eliminated.

The autofocus processing speed has tripled, and the focus is among the best in Panasonic.

Sound is important in video, and the GH6 allows four-channel recording with an XLR adapter. All channels move with HDMI.
