PolarPro 77mm Variable ND 6-9 stop
PolarPro has released the new king of filters. Developed in collaboration with Peter McKinnon, the filter series is of the highest quality and is a clear departure from traditional adjustable ND filters. By keeping the adjustment range of the filters moderate, maximum image quality has been achieved without colour aberration, distortion or cross-polarisation. As these filters are mainly used for video, it is particularly important that no headache-causing colour aberrations are introduced into the material. Often cheap ND filters will leave a slightly greenish ”film” on the image, still images can easily be corrected with a grey card. In video editing, however, this feature causes considerably more work and time. Peter Mckinnon is particularly known for his videos, and certainly wouldn't have put his name on a product that wasn't suitable for the job.
PolarPro 77mm Variable ND 6-9 stop, onko se minulle sopiva?
Full gaps go like this: F1.2 | F2.0 | F2.8 | F4 | F5.6 | F8 | F11 | F16 | F22 | F32 | F45
A stop is basically one aperture or dividing the shutter speed by two, so 6-9 stops is equivalent to dimming the camera 6-9 times and/or dividing the time 6-9 times. For example, take a very common 50mm f/1.4 lens, in bright sunlight the lens will produce a 1/50 stop at f/22 at ISO 100. Of course, this is not the most desirable aperture for many people, so the amount of light reaching the lens needs to be dimmed. Deciding that you want an aperture of f/2.8, you can now calculate from the columns above how many times you need to ”stop down” to get to the desired aperture. The answer in this case is 6, so this filter would be just right, for that exposure. However, there is a flip side to the coin, i.e. if the sun is not shining from a cloudless sky you will easily have to use a larger aperture or increase the sensitivity. We often recommend that a videographer's kit contains both, 6-9 stop ND and 2-5 stop ND filters.

Laadukas filtteri upeassa pakkauksessa.
Iso peukku!
