Samyang AF 50mm f/1.4 EF II - updated version of the Sony E AF glass

The Samyang AF 50mm f/1.4 EF II is designed for full-frame mirrorless Sony E cameras. The previous version was quite good optically but the focus left a lot to be desired, now it has been made adequate and also improved on the previous good points. The 72mm front element allows for maximum exposure to get the best light for your images. Thanks to Samyang Optics' superior optical technology, the lens' aspherical lenses minimise aberrations and excessive light spill. This results in high resolution from the centre to the edges.

This is an updated version of Samyang's first AF lens, so understandably there was room for improvement. The 50mm f/1.4 is compatible with both phase detect and contrast detect sensors, bringing fast and accurate focusing speed. The lens is a little above its level.

A light-powered aperture combined with a nine-blade dimmer makes managing depth of field and background softness a wonderful experience. Talk about an ideal potretta lens. The Ultra Multi Coating coating on the elements reduces reflections and other debris which reduces image quality. The optical formula has three HR (high refractive), one ELD (extra low dispersion) and two aspherical elements.

The focus ring is customisable. The linear STM autofocus motor is fast and relatively silent and smooth in its movements. AF is internal and focus breathing is fairly minimal.

You can also use glass on APS-C bodies with a focal length of 75mm.
