Sony A9 II having its predecessor dazzling features and adds enhanced connectivity, improved body design and even more electrifying performance. With a proven 24.2 megapixel cinema-size Exmor RS BSI stacked CMOS sensor at its heart and an upgraded Bionz X processor, the Sony A9 II is exceptionally fast and responsive.

Up to 20 frames per second are possible with a silent electronic shutter, and up to 10 frames per second with a mechanical shutter. Sensitivity can be widely adjusted, reaching at best ISO 204800 when extended. The sensor design incorporates a 693-point phase focus system, providing intelligent target tracking and Real-time Eye AF focusing. Subject tracking is critically accurate. The Bionz X performs 60 AF/AE functions per second, resulting in 20 frames per second continuous shooting with high accuracy and reliability. In addition to still images, UHD 4K video recording reaches 30 fps, with a Quick and Slow function available as required. Inside the camera you'll find a 5.5-step SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilizer that operates on five axes. In addition to the imaging, the a9 II also received a dramatic overhaul to its physical aspects, with a more ergonomic user experience, improved weather protection, and connectivity brought up to date.

The 3.69 million dot OLED EVF is bright and sharp and is blackout free which is an unbeatable feature for fast shooting. The 3-inch 1.44 million-dot tilting LCD in the background is touch-enabled. Dual UHS-II SD memory card slots make recording flexible and reliable. The Sony a9 II's Ethernet port has been redesigned to 1000BASE-T for faster data transfer and easier remote camera operation. 5.0 Ghz wireless sharing and Bluetooth is integrated for wireless sharing and remote control. You can add 60 seconds of voice memo to your pictures.

24.2MP Exmor RS BSI Stacked CMOS sensor and the BIONZ X processor is built with speed in mind. In addition to speed, the backlit design of the sensor allows ISO 204800 without crazy noise. Uncompressed 14-bit RAW images make the images very true to colour. BIONZ X processor collaborates with the high-speed LSI front-end to make processing faster. Fast image capture is only part of the processor's job, it also has to read AF/AE measurements 60 times per second, so the measurement is continuous, and the tracking is almost infallible. Automatic flicker detection detects flicker and can adjust the shutter speed accordingly. And because the shutter is electronic, the image on the viewfinder and screen is completely blackout-free.

Fast Hybrid AF system covers 93% of the image area, and consists of 693 phase detection points and 425 contrast detection areas. This means that the focus is not only fast, but freezingly accurate even at -3 EV in low light. The density of focus points enables High-density Tracking AF tracking technology. Upgraded AF algorithms better maintain critical focus even with blurred moving subjects. Thanks to the use of alternate focus points, the LA-EA3 and LA-EA1 adapters also work, allowing you to use A bayonet lenses with full focus support. The nifty focusing system also includes a variety of focusing functions, such as Lock-On AF that keeps focus on a moving subject within a defined area at the start of focusing on the subject, or Expand Flexible Spot that uses nearby focus points to keep focus on target even when the subject moves out of the selected area. The colour of the focus area box is selectable, either white or red. AF tracking is possible even at apertures above f/16 when working in Focus Priority mode. As an added bonus, Sony's pioneering Eye AF is included, detecting the eyes of both humans and certain animals in both AF-C and AF-S modes in stills and video. Autofocus can also be used with the Focus Magnifier function when you want to make sure the focus is really nailed. The touch screen in the background acts as a Touch Control interface, allowing you to intuitively change the focus position from the screen without taking your eye off the camera viewfinder.

Rungon design. The Quad-VGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF is equipped with 3.69 million dots and 0.78x magnification. The finder is bright and sharp, with a focus that's like walking in the park. In High Quality mode, the image refresh rate is 120 fps and the viewfinder experience is truly smooth. The fluorine coating on the top element makes cleaning the viewfinder easy. In addition to the blisteringly fast EVF, a 3-dark rear viewfinder with 1.44 million dots helps when shooting from difficult angles. Touch functions are convenient and the display flips up and down as needed. The magnesium alloy construction of the body is lightweight and sturdy. The lens bayonet has been improved for heavy lenses. Weather protection has been brought to a professional level. Powered by the tried and tested industry-leading NP-FZ100 battery, it's like the battery of old. Duracell, it just keeps going and going.

Two slots are both UHS-II and the first port is now the higher one. Data transfer is all the rage anyway, with the USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port transferring data faster than most machines can handle. It also allows you to charge your camera, and use a backup power supply if you need to. An integrated PC sync terminal triggers old-school flashes. The shutter can withstand at least 500,000 shots. If you want to transfer pictures wirelessly there's Wi-fi and Bluetooth which, with NFC (near field communication), connect quickly and easily. Once the camera is connected to a mobile device you can view a live image on the screen of your smart device and trigger the camera. With Bluetooth, location information can be added to the images.
