The Sony FE 100mm STF f/2.8 GM is a short telephoto fixed lens made entirely for bokeh. Sony's speciality is really only for portrait photography, its STF (Smooth Trans Focus) technology uses an apodization filter inside the lens, this produces particularly smooth and rounded ”boke” balls and a pleasantly blurred area. Generally the blurred area is pleasant behind the subject, but in this lens it is also really smooth in the front.

Thanks to the special elements and the Nano AR coating, the glass is also very sharp, colour-saturated and contrasty, without unwanted features such as chromatic aberration.

Like the G-Master / GM lenses, the lens is dust and moisture resistant, as well as being very solidly built and comfortable to use. The high-speed SSM motor delivers accurate and fast autofocus. The Sony FE 100mm f/2.8 STF GM OSS also focuses quite close (57cm) and works great for face shots, and even in some cases as a macro lens (magnification 0.25x). The built-in image stabilizer makes it easy to use handheld.
