Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD - Really affordable super-wide for Fuji

The dynamic Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD (easy name to pronounce) is a fast ultra wide zoom lens for the Fuji X bayonet APS-C mirrorless camera. The focal length is equivalent to a fairly wide 17-30mm focal length compared to cinema cameras. It has the first ever f/2.8 aperture for a Fuji X bayonet in this category, and despite this it has a compact lightweight design. This ultra-wide angle is especially nice for landscape photography, but of course astrophotography will benefit from this camera's capabilities. Architectural photography is an obvious target for this one. The continuous maximum aperture of the lens at f/2.8 is ideal for blurry situations and removing close-ups from the background. The optical design consists of one XLD element, two LD elements and two aspherical glass casting elements. These correct for optical defects such as chromatic aberrations, colour fringing and brightness and colour accuracy. The individual elements feature Tamron's BBAR coating which reduces flare and haze for better contrast when working in backlit situations or otherwise less than optimal conditions. The sensitive RXD stepper motor is fast and virtually silent, making it ideal for video shooting.

Surfaces are protected by a fluorine coating that is dirt, grease and water repellent. The bright, continuous f/2.8 maximum aperture is not only luminous, but also a great tool for composition.

XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion), LD (Low Dispersion), and GM (Glass-Molded Aspherical) elements reduce color fringing, chromatic aberration, and distortion, while BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating reduces internal reflections, flare, and haze for true-to-life color fidelity. The RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) autofocus motor provides fast and quiet performance. Sony's advanced autofocus modes work normally with this lens. Manual AF overdrive is present.

The closest focusing distance at 11mm focal length is just under 15 centimetres, so you can practically lock on to your target if you want to.

The design and construction is moisture-retardant and the fluorine coating prevents stains on the front element.

The edges of the seven-leaf dimmer are rounded to give a smooth bokeh.
