The tripod head is the second part of the camera stand, usually on top of the legs themselves. On higher-quality tripods, the tripod head can be detached, allowing you to swap different heads on the tripod. The right tripod head depends on the equipment you are using and, most importantly, what you are using the head for. There are several types of tripod heads.

• Ball caps are perhaps the most common pedestal heads. They are well suited for the basic user and especially for photography. The ball allows you to quickly change the position of the camera and then lock it in the desired position. It is perhaps because of their small size and ease of use that ball heads are popular with photographers.
• Video heads are, as their name suggests, excellent for video use. The video head makes it easy to move the camera smoothly, both vertically and horizontally. High-quality video heads often feature Counterweight and liquid dilution, which allows precisely these fluid movements.
• Cinema heads or another name for roadheads are particularly suitable for still photography, but also work for video. These heads have one, two or three different reversing direction. Rotation is very precise, allowing you to position the camera with pinpoint accuracy.
