The use of ring lights has become more common with vlogging, selfies and commercial social media. Ring lights are an inexpensive way to produce beautiful, shadowless light that is ideal for both photographers and videographers. The circular, shadowless light is also ideal for portrait photography, removing skin imperfections.

The main criteria for ring lighters are:

• A good CRI value - this tells you how accurate the colour rendering of light is. If you are taking photos/videos where it is important that colours are reproduced naturally, it is a good idea to choose a light with the highest possible CRI value.
• Power control - This allows you to control the amount of light reaching the subject, and therefore the naturalness of the image against the background.
• Colour temperature - The best lights have a colour temperature control. This feature makes it easier to ”match” ring lighting to the lighting in the shooting area.
