The Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM covers a very versatile focal length range, ideal for sports and wildlife photography. Nano USM technology combines a fast ring-type ultrasonic motor optimised for stills with a quiet stepper motor optimised for video. This hybrid AF motor is also faster than usual throughout the zoom range, being highly responsive at close and far distances. An image stabilisation system compensates for up to 4 apertures of motion blur at slow speeds.

As a nice new feature, the lens has a display that shows the focus distance, focal length and stabilizer settings. The ULD element reduces aberrations. A 9-blade dimmer produces a pleasing bokeh of things outside the sharpness range.

The lens will also work on APS-C models with a focal length of 112-480mm.
