Olympus OM-D E-M1X - a giant with a little heart

The Olympus OM-D E-M1X is top speed and superb image quality in a small... I mean, big package. Yes, it's now officially left the microfourthirds camera sales mantra of ”small but peppy” behind and made a true professional device. Image quality and speed is fuelled by a 20.4 megapixel Live MOS sensor with a new coating to further enhance sensitivity. Two powerful TruPicVIII processors improve basic performance factors such as start-up speed or wake-up speed from hibernation. The dual processor design not only speeds up the camera, but also allows the use of two UHS-II SD cards. Processor power is also needed with the new handheld high-resolution image, Live ND filter, and Intelligent Target Detection AF.

Advanced image stabilisation. With the Olympus OM-D E-M1X, Olympus introduces a redesigned gyro sensor that makes stabilizer performance simply the best in the world. Combined with the m.Zuiko IS Pro lens, you get approximately 7.5 aperture compensation, freeing you from the shackles of tripod. Ultra-fast autofocus. With AF locked, the E-M1X can rip up to 60 frames per second. This allows you to capture moments that are beyond the reach of the human eye. With AF/AE tracking, the maximum speed is 18 frames per second. The Olympus OM-D E-M1X's Pro Capture mode records 35 frames retroactively, from half-press to full-press.

High resolution function. In addition to the 80 megapixel image from a tripod, you can now take a handheld high-resolution image equivalent to 50 megapixels without leaving any trace of the cameraman's movement. Live ND function. The new Live ND function allows you to use slow shutter speeds as if you were using gray filters. You can check the effect in the viewfinder before taking the picture. The effect is adjustable in five levels, from ND2 to ND32.

Olympus OM-D E-M1X - video functions

In addition to professional images, the new Olympus OM-D E-M1X is a master of video production. It has all the goodies that videographers need to capture the action. With the high-resolution Cinema 4K (C4K, 4096 x 2160) video format, videographers not only have high resolution at their fingertips, but also more leeway in post-production. 120 fps video in FullHD mode allows for easy slowdown of video.

Powerful 5-axis image stabilizer makes it easy to shoot good video handheld, and its power can be adjusted to three different intensities to match the movement of the cameraman.

Log description. A Log description has been included to manage changing light situations. The OM-Log400 curve allows for colour definition and post-processing of the image with high accuracy. Anti-flicker function. With the Anti-flicker function, the camera detects the flicker frequency of artificial lights and activates a shutter at the peak light to minimise uneven exposures and colours. The function minimises streaking in the image when using the electronic shutter and when shooting video. This allows you to fine-tune your shutter speed to suit your needs. Connectivity. The new Wi-Fi imaging allows tethering (flame imaging, yep, I know, I didn't invent that word) without a cable, images are transferred to the computer with the handy Olympus Capture software. GPS. The Olympus OM-D E-M1X includes a built-in GPS sensor, thermometer, manometer and compass, the so-called field meters. In addition to location data, these sensors detect and record temperature, altitude, and camera orientation. This gives you accurate information for your images.
