Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN - Sony E

35mm is pretty basic when it comes to focal lengths, but the Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN for Sony's E bayonet still deserves its place. It's a small, relatively wide-angle lens that's easy to take with you and is well suited for street photography, for example. The so-called standard focal length is handy for many shooting subjects such as landscape, street or reportage photography. The maximum aperture of f/2 may seem dark on paper but in reality it is quite adequate in most cases. The optical formula consists of three aspherical elements and one SLD element which is in your best interest to help you achieve good colour fidelity and sharpness. The Super Multi-Layer coating is of course there to eliminate reflections.

Focusing is implemented with stepper motors for fast and quiet AF performance, suitable for both light and video modes. The lens also features a manual aperture ring and an all-metal body.

The dimmer is equipped with nine rounded leaves that make the background softening smooth. All these refinements are in a weatherproof environment.

Part of the Contemporary series in Sigma's Global Vision range, this lens aims for a balance between usability and performance. A lightweight design, easy to handle with good optical sorting ability. The lens will naturally also work on APS-C format camcorders although it is designed for cinema size cameras, with a focal length equivalent to 52.5mm cinema glass on these smaller format cameras. The f/2 maximum aperture is a good balance between size and aperture. There's no need to worry about chromatic aberrations as the optical formula is said to have a single Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element.

The aperture bracket in position A allows the aperture to be adjusted from the body. The bayonet is bronze to make the connection tight and sturdy. Rubber gasket keeps dust and moisture out. The included LCF58-01M magnetic lens cover attaches directly to the lens and is compatible with the CH-11.
