Sony a6XXX the forward-facing screens of the cameras are hidden behind the mic in the basic configuration, in all simplicity this moves the cold shoe slightly to the side of the camera body. I know, it's amazing, I still don't know how this didn't occur to Sony's designers. It's made to attach to your gear, and then you can attach flashes, lights, mics and the like to your camera, but just off to the side.
