Bridge / superzoom cameras have been on offer for 5 years creating the image of superseding the capabilities of SLRs, for the first time this even holds true. The RX10IV's focus is based on Sony A9 flagship, and offers a truly reliable focusing system and 24fps continuous shooting. The same technology also opens up the video side to cutting-edge features such as 4K and up to 960 fps slow-motion video.

There is little physical difference between the cameras and the technical differences are quite small, but only on paper. The image quality is slightly improved and the focus is out of this world. The older RX10s were already excellent in terms of image quality, but focusing on a moving subject was a problem, as with all bridge cameras. This new model fixes that and the chips are captured on the cell at a really good rate. You can be sure that when you take a series of, say, a flying bird, you'll have some successful shots if only the camera is in the right focus mode.
