The Sony RX1R III is a compact, always-on camera with the performance of Sony's professional-grade mirrorless cameras. This highly anticipated third-generation fixed lens full-frame camera combines cutting-edge image quality with an easy-to-carry size. It features a 61 megapixel back-illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor, more advanced autofocus and video recording, a redesigned body, a larger battery and the same beloved ZEISS Sonnar T* 35mm f/2 lens as previous models.

Full-sensor 61MP Exmor R sensor
The camera uses the same high-resolution sensor as the a7R V and a7CR models. It produces highly accurate and detailed images with a dynamic range of up to 15 apertures. Copper wiring improves data transfer speeds and enables 14-bit 61 MP RAW images with an ISO range of 100-32,000.

Powerful BIONZ XR processing
Up to eight times more powerful than the previous generation, this processor ensures fast performance, better image quality and supports AI-powered autofocus and image processing functions.

AI-based focusing system

Autofocus uses an advanced AI algorithm to detect and track faces, eyes and body movements, even in busy situations. The camera recognises:

• People (60 % improvement in eye detection)

• Animals and birds (40 % more accurate identification, including dogs, cats, birds)

• Insects

• Vehicles such as trains and planes

The focus is also excellent for capturing moving subjects, such as athletes.

Fast hybrid focusing system
The 693 phase detection points cover 79 % of the full cell area. Focusing works even in low light, down to -4 EV. DMF mode allows manual focusing at any time.

Precise exposure and natural colours

AI detects skin tones and subject orientation, improving the accuracy of exposure and white balance, especially in portraits and challenging lighting. A new algorithm makes auto exposure 20 % more accurate.

New features for creative shooting

• Step Crop limits - You can simulate 50 mm (29 MP) and 70 mm (15 MP) angles directly in-camera - the perfect tool for composition without the need to change lenses.
• Creative Look settings - 12 new presets, including film-like FL, nostalgic FL2, slide film-inspired FL3 and instant IN, allow for pre-styled images straight from the camera.
