Tamron has set a very competitive price for the glass, with Sony's equivalent ( Sony 16-55mm f/2.8 G ) costs 1.5x more and does not reach more than 55 million. Often 70mm already gives a much creamier bokeh effect than 55mm and that's why the glass is also nicely suited for portraits. The glass is equipped with Tamron's Vibration Compensation ( VC ) image stabilizer which compensates for vibration and especially improves stability in video shooting. The image stabilisation of this lens is specially optimised for videographers with AI technology, this combined with the fast RXD stepper motor and Hybrid AF and Eye AF support produces really beautiful and smooth video, even with autofocus.
