Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8 DG DN A - Sony FE
The SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN | Art is not just a conventional zoom lens. Its versatile focal length and bright F2.8 aperture, combined with cutting-edge optical performance, excellent construction and a host of professional features, make it one of the most versatile lenses on the market for mirrorless systems. The lens is designed to cope with a huge range of subjects and situations, from spacious low-light landscapes to portraits with big, beautiful bokeh. Thanks to SIGMA's latest optical technology and large diameter elements, it can do this with outstanding clarity and sharpness.
With a fast aperture across the entire focal length, the SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN Art is a truly versatile lens that can be used for almost any type of photography. For landscape photographers, it offers the opportunity to take wide-angle shots in low-light scenes and dim cityscapes, while the medium focal lengths are ideal for shooting low-light documentary and street scenes. At the long end, the popular portrait focal lengths, combined with the F2.8 maximum aperture, produce a shallow depth of field that impressively separates the subject from the large and beautiful bokeh. The SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN Art performs uncompromisingly, suppressing aberrations very effectively in every lens group and throughout the zoom and focal length range. This ensures that the lens has consistent performance, no matter how long the zoom range. Thanks to its premium optical design, which includes two FLD, one SLD and five aspherical elements, the lens is able to deliver high quality image quality.
Continuous F2.8 zoom lenses can be heavy, but the optimised design and materials of the SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN Art lens ensure a remarkably light weight of less than 1kg. Changing the lens body material from aluminium to magnesium alloy has reduced the weight of these components by two-thirds, while ensuring rigidity.
With an efficient arrangement of five SLD elements and three aspherical elements, aberrations are tightly corrected. Axial chromatic aberration, particularly noticeable with large aperture lenses, is thoroughly suppressed, and the lens produces clear images with minimal colour aberration, from sharply focused details to large, smooth bokeh. For filmmakers who demand consistent image framing, the lens is designed to keep focus breathing to a minimum. This ensures that changes in perspective due to focus shifting are minimised throughout the zoom range, ensuring natural-looking focus shifts when recording video and easier alignment of images when the focus is stacked. Advanced simulation technology has largely eliminated reflections and ghosting, ensuring the lens produces rich, contrasty results in all conditions. In addition, SIGMA's Nano Porous Coating and Super Multi-Layer Coating are further applied to suppress reflections and ghosting.
The lens features a linear motor HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) that provides maximum driving speed, ensuring responsive, accurate and smooth AF. The motor's high level of silence also provides noise-free video performance. For fast exposure changes or more traditional shooting, the lens is equipped with a dedicated aperture ring that allows the aperture to be changed through the lens if the user so desires. An aperture ring snap switch is a useful tool for filmmakers, while a lock switch helps ensure that the aperture ring is not accidentally moved out of position. The two customisable AFL buttons on the side and top can be easily accessed in either horizontal or vertical shooting positions for more ergonomic handling. * The configuration of functions is limited to supported cameras and the functions that can be configured vary depending on the camera model.
The lens has a zoom lock switch that holds the zoom mechanism in place at its wide end, preventing it from inadvertently expanding under its own weight when being carried. The lock can be released with a switch or by turning the zoom ring for faster, smoother operation. The lens has a dust and splash-resistant construction* to keep it clean in adverse outdoor conditions. The front element also has a water- and oil-repellent coating to help keep it clean in harsh shooting conditions. * The product is designed to be dust and splash resistant, but not waterproof. When using the lens near water, etc., make sure that large amounts of water do not splash on it. If water gets inside the lens, it may cause a serious malfunction and render the lens irreparable.

The Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8 is worth looking at if you're tired of switching lenses. The 28mm end is good for wider shots, while 105mm lets you get closer to your subject without moving. The lens handles distortion well - straight lines stay straight at 28mm, and faces don't get warped at 105mm. When you're shooting video, the focus stays smooth without changing your frame size, and the background blur at f/2.8 looks clean. The image stays sharp across all zoom ranges, with no noticeable colour fringing on high-contrast edges. For shooters who often work between standard and telephoto ranges, this single lens could replace several in your bag.
