    Canon PowerShot SX740 HS - a camera with great features

    The most striking feature of the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is its shockingly long zoom range despite its small size.The combination of a 20.3 megapixel 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor and powerful Digic 8 processor produces clean, high-resolution images, and it performs well in difficult lighting conditions up to ISO 3200. There's even speed to match the 10 frames per second pace if need be. FullHD 1080p video recording is included, as well as in-camera time-lapse video when you want to create dynamic content. To accompany the image capture is a whopping 40X optical zoom lens which in cinema size terms equates to a focal length of 24-960mm. A dynamic image stabilizer is a great addition, especially for telephoto. The slim camera is equipped with a 3″ touchscreen that's intuitive to use, as well as built-in Wi-Fi and NFC and Bluetooth. Images are transferred wirelessly and remote access to the camera is effortless.

    The rear display is a 3″ 922K pixel LCD panel with touch capabilities and swivels forward 180° for selfies.

    The included NB-13L rechargeable lithium-ion battery produces around 235 frames on charge when working with the screen on, and around 315 frames in ECO mode.

      Very good camera, perfect for photography in any situation and the settings allow you to adjust the colour of the image etc. to exactly what you want

      I expected more improvement compared to the SX720HS. A few weaknesses: after focusing, before firing, the 720 showed the focus area enlarged. That was a big help when shooting. In the 740, the frame size and compression density selections are together, even though they are two different selections. Now you can't select a dense compression for a small image (would be necessary). The 740 has added contrast and saturation correction levels. No ”no correction” option at all, which should be the default option. Image correction, in my opinion, is not part of the camera at all, but of image processing on a computer. The good thing is the improvement in speed, especially in focus. The rotating screen is good. It's still a reasonably good camera.
